PhD Networking Event with the IndTech Graduate School

On September 06, 2023, the Computer Science Department of RPTU in Kaiserslautern welcomed the IndTech Graduate School of Mälardalens Universitet from Sweden. After the welcome by our dean Prof. Christoph Garth, and the chair of the PhD committee Prof. Annette Bieniusa, Prof. Markus Bolin presented the special profile of the IndTech Graduate School: The PhD students are closely linked to local industry partners and research institutes and conduct application-oriented research on topics in the field of digitalization with a focus on digital transformation of production systems, industrial AI, resilience of industrial systems as well as energy-efficient production. In further presentations, the Robotics Research Lab of the RPTU was introduced by Prof. Dr. Karsten Berns and the SIAK with the numerous collaborations between industry and research in Kaiserslautern by Prof. Dr. Dieter Rombach.

In the afternoon, 22 PhD students from our department and the IndTech Graduate School presented their research topics in a joint poster session. Afterward, the group visited the Research Robotics Lab and the Smart Factory together, where Dr. Achim Wagner demonstrated the production island_KUBA. With best late summer weather, the intensive discussions of the afternoon and the planning of joint projects were continued during the joint dinner at the Bremerhof. We sincerely thank the
